Count each spline (notch) on the inside of the axle to get the axle spline count.
Inspect the shape of your splines to determine the type.

Involute splines come to a sharp point, like a triangle.

Straight splines are shaped like a square.

Angular splines have a slight angle coming to a flat point, like a trapezoid.
